Over hundreds of years, the indigenous Mayan people have been forced from their more fertile lands to steep mountainous regions in Guatemala. Eric and Amanda Rose lived among the Q’eqchi’ people near Cobán, Guatemala for two and a half years. The deep bonds of friendship – many of which were severed when they finally returned to the US – motivate them to reach the Q’eqchi’ today. Radio broadcasts in the local Q’eqchi’ language are the ideal way to reach these people who often live far from roads, electricity, and even cell phone signal. A radio station specifically for Q’eqchi’ listeners was purchased in October of 2021 by the local Adventist conference for close to USD $1,000,000. The station is located at a high elevation and covers an enormous area. Unfortunately, due to the prevailing lack of material in the native language, there are only three hours per day of Q’eqchi’ programming on this station. We hope to support and expand their work, and our team now includes an Adventist Q’eqchi’ speaker who has radio experience and who will record radio-quality broadcasts.  This project is still in its infancy, and we believe your support will be an integral part of this project.
